Date calculator
Count days between dates, or add and subtract days from a date.
RESULT
364 days
How it works
Date differences count calendar days, excluding the starting date. January 1 to December 31, 2026 is 364 days. Calculations use civil dates rather than elapsed hours, so daylight saving changes do not alter the answer. Weekends and holidays are included.
How to use
- Select a date difference, addition or subtraction.
- Enter the starting date and an end date or whole number of days.
- Read the signed day difference or resulting date.
Worked examples and common mistakes
February 28 to March 1 spans 2 days in leap year 2024, but 1 day in 2025. If an event counts both its first and last calendar dates, add 1 to the absolute date difference. The calculator itself treats equal dates as a zero-day interval.
This is a calendar-day calculator, not a business-day calculator. It includes weekends and holidays and does not measure 24-hour periods between timestamps. For bookings or contractual deadlines, check any separate counting rules that apply.
Frequently asked questions
Are both dates included?
The same date has a difference of zero days. For an inclusive count, add one to the absolute difference.
Are leap years supported?
Yes, using the Gregorian calendar and years 0001–9999. An earlier end date gives a negative difference.
